The Story

Franco's Italian Caffe begins with Franco Fazzuoli, born 1942 in Florence, Italy. He immigrated to America at the age of 25, working in New York City as a busboy, dishwasher, night cook and day manager. For eight years he worked and saved money and was able to open his restaurant II Ponte Vechio in 1975. The restaurant drew inspiration from Italian restaurants of the forties and fifties, with inexpensive Tuscan-influenced food. He would open two more restaurants before moving from New York City to Arizona in 1987, and a few restaurants and some more relocations later he would open Franco’s Italian Caffe in Scottsdale. And his mission is to serve real Italian food in Scottsdale made with love and care.

Italian Food in Scottsdale

Start your dinner at Franco’s Italian Caffe off right with one of the many appetizer assortments on offer. Perhaps order a bruschetta, or the baked asparagus and prosciutto. Or choose a plate of fruit and cheese, sautéed spinach, or the grilled vegetables. Then perhaps try one of the salads, such as the seafood salad or the beet arugula. And then go for one of the many pastas offered (with gluten-free and whole wheat pasta available) such as the capellini tomato basil or the seafood risotto. And don’t forget the meat dishes such as grilled pork chop or filet mignon all'arrabiata.

Wines

What is an Italian meal without some good wine? Franco's Italian Caffe boasts a wide selection of white wines, red wines, and champagnes. Prices by the glass range from $8 to $14. Certain wines are available only by the bottle.

Dessert

Be sure to save some room for dessert! Treat yourself to a sweet mascarpone cheesecake for $9.25, or the merenghata for $10.25. Or go for the tiramisu, strawberry semifreddo or the Governors’ chocolate cake, all priced at $8.75.

Franco's Italian Caffe can be found at 4327 N Scottsdale Road. The restaurant is closed Sundays and Mondays, with its Tuesday to Saturday hours running from 5:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
